As an umpire, you can freely make the call to not give that violation. That is your choice, and you are protected by the uni on FOR THIS REASON. He doesn’t need orders from the league, and I promise even without orders from the league he wouldn’t call him.

There was a guards game I was watching near opening day, I think it was a seattle game, where the catcher got shaken up. Rather than call a pitch clock violation, the ump allowed the pitch clock to count down and didn’t say anything, because he knew that it didn’t exist for that reason. This guy just wasnt a good imp

MLB umpire has digression on these calls. It's such a shitty rule to enforce for an ovation and I'd always let it slide.
