I received mine yesterday by mail, and I'm pretty impressed by the sound quality. I'm rediscovering many songs and the joy of the offline mp3 players of my young years.
The only problem I have is with the music software, I feel it is not designed for a large music library, even if the machine is designed to hold up 512GB of music. For example, there is no scrolling down by letter in the artists page (so I have to scroll through nearly 500 artists to get to The Velvet Underground), while there is one for the songs page (why would they not simply add it to the artist's?). I would eventually work around the android software on the device and try to install the winamp player on my Fiio. I've been loving the winamp mobile app for many years and would like to see it on the Fiio. It would then become my favorite machine.

Just bought one, it's running firmware 1.07 atm out the box and sounds v good. Tested on denon full size over ear phones and a set of kz as06 balanced armature iems. A little underpowered straight thru to the denons but with a topping nx1s amp inline it's more than adequate. The kz's sound tremendous and a very good match for a well balanced neutral sound and they are so easy to drive.

Very good review. When the product like Shanling M0, Hiby R3, Hidizs AP80 is available for cheaper than M7, it is nowhere . Mainly Shanling M0 offers much more than M7 for half of price. Even M7 lacks USB DAC feature. Sound wise they are same but Shanling M0 with more power. The main problem of M7 that they have included the Fiio music Android app which is still in beta mode and not mature enough like Hiby. Hope they com up with better spec and wifi connectivity along with Balanced port in their proposed M9. Still M7 doesn't justify the price.

I want to improve the sound of my Fiio X5iii, which I find little bit lacking of energy, Would you recommend some portable amplifiers to pair it up?
I like the way you reviewing, clear, with a a strong personall opinion .

Best tech review I've ever seen. Huge fan, subscribed, kudos... If I understand correctly at 11 minutes in, my Kenwood car stereo receiver's USB port will recognize this device if I go to Developer Settings/Select USB Configuration will allow it to recognize the FiiO m7 via USB instead of AUX cable? I'll find out soon enough once this ice storm resumes deliveries but would be great to hear if anyone can confirm!

thanks, this really helped me a lot... i was wondering if this is better than sony nw-a45 and it sound to me that it is, i only want this device to the bluetooth conectivity.

I tried your trick with the developer options and audio out but I still got no sound in my car attaching it the USB that normally has my iPod connected.
