I'm super excited for the little mermaid! The actor they chose is so beautiful and I love her voice. Although I'm a little confused as to why Disney went this route instead of making a new princess entirely but in the end, I don't really care and I just wanna see the new movie! Though I do wish they had made her hair a little more red but I still love it. And beautiful jar btw!

I won't be watching the movie in person because of lack of funds and a way to go (I'm autistic, don't drive, and don't have a job), but I'd still love to see it if it ever comes out on Disney+! She's gorgeous, and it's literally just a movie. It's not promoting racism or hate-crimes. The only ones doing that are the ones who are upset about it. Either way, I absolutely adore the jar! It gets the full 10 from me!

I’ll be watching but:
Disney should be making _new_ black princesses and not remodeling old ones because that’s not really representation. They just want a quick and easy way to get a new black princess without effort (because they just have to copy the movie so most of the script is done).

It’s like how JK Rowling casted a black actress to play Hermione granger (play) despite having casted Emma Watson (movies) saying she always pictured her like that (total bs cause there were drawings). Also, there were black kids playing but so important roles in the first movies but when they got more spotlight later on (I’m talking about fellow griffindors, crabb and goyle, etc.) they completely changed (from a black actor to a white one and maybey vice versa in some cases?)

Moral of the story: changing a character after already being made and known as one way to be a minority or to be with trends is not representation, just a way to make us think it is (giving them a positive look) and not really doing much effort. Like, making an entirely new character would be nice.

I don’t see why everyone’s so pressed about the new little mermaid? None of the other live action Disney movies have been completely accurate to the originals but no one was complaining as much as they are over The Little Mermaid.. I will absolutely watch it when it comes out and I’m very excited to!
