In 2015, Ksenya Samsonova went to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for surgery on her leg to repair an injury. The surgery went as expected, and Samsonova was spending a few days in the hospital recuperating. That’s when, medical records show, she suddenly stopped breathing for about nine minutes. Staff found her unresponsive and in cardiac arrest.
