John MacArthur blasphemes the work of the Holy Spirit

During the Ligonier's 2017 National Conference, pastor, and teacher of Grace Community Church, John MacArthur, spoke blasphemous words against the Holy Spirit.

He professed that the LORD stopped miraculous works of the Holy Spirit to prevent unbelievers from rushing into the Church. He falsely claimed that this resulted from Ananias, with Sapphira, his wife, conspiring to lie to the Holy Spirit about the money they earned from selling a piece of land.

Because their lives were lost for deliberate disobedience, unbelievers, being too afraid, refused to come to the Church.

The truth?

John's statements are a complete manipulation of scripture.

Immediately after Ananias' dead wife was carried out to be buried beside him, the complete contrary occurred.

So great fear came upon all the Church and those who heard these things. And through the hands of the apostles, many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's Porch. Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly.

And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.

Also, a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

See Acts 5:1-16

John MacArthur said you can take the mark of the beast and still be saved. Keep following him and you’ll be in hell!

Ptr Mcarthur is right, we need to understand his point. What he is saying is God is stopping those unbelievers who misunderstood the reason for the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit which is not to attract unbelieverse who only focus on those miracles and not to Christ works for their salvation. They join the church only because they were so attracted by the miracles that the apostles were performing. And not attracted to Christ saving works. That is why they lied to the Holy Spirit. They're not wholly for Christ. God filtered them out forGod is not partial. When you come to God its your whole person and it must be by faith. Without faith it is impossible to please Him.

JMac was correct. Verse 13 states that the unbelievers didn't want to associate themselves with the apostles, but still respected them. Verses 14-16 talks about the BELIEVERS coming out to be healed.

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is attributing to Satan the work of the Holy Spirit period He said that God shut down the miracles to the unbelievers. That's not attributing miracles to Satan.

Faithful R.C. Sproul is the one on the far right, if McArthur would have blasphemed, R.C would have rebuked him, so I doubt what you're allegedging.

No, the reason He, The Lord struck Ananias and Sapphire was because they lied to the Holy Spirit and when He struck them fear fell upon the rest. God was not nor is He upset with healings and miracles. Sorry John is wrong about this one.

Well, if you think you understand the Bible better than John MacArthur, who has preached through each and every single word of the New Testament and lots and lots of the old testament, then one thing you are not is humble.

You don't even earn a "Nice try" for this one.

John MacArthur is arguably one of the greatest theological minds of our day. His steadfastness to the validity and veracity of scripture can be counted with the greats of the past. I’m not saying he’s perfect, because no man is, but I’ll go with his doctrinal statements and Bible explanation any day. For me to disagree with him on a point, one is going to have to dig very deep to convince me he’s wrong.

Who where the multitude of men and women? Answer = is literally in the same sentence, "believers in the Lord". Not outsiders. Just as John said

My brothers and sisters, are we biting and devouring each other here? Lets work at discussing these things without having to come to a conclusion of "You are wrong and I am right", and "Mr MacArthur is blaspheming", ect. Are we not family, bought by Christ? Lets talk to each other and discuss these things like we are .... Or do we feel compelled to "fight" about that also?

I don’t think McArthur is wrong. I think you’re mistaken, because McArthur is saying that unbelievers were scared to join. Not that believers weren’t going to join.

John MacArthur meant that, No people dared to join them, those who actually joined them just because of the Miracles done by The Apostles, those who didn’t believe Jesus Christ as their lord didn’t join them. And in verse 14 it says that People(Who accepted Jesus as their lord and saviour) yet joined them. I think the MacArthur was only talking about the Unbelievers who couldn’t join the Apostles.

Blasphemy is attributing the work of God to Satan not misinterpreting the scripture or events. Both scenarios are correct. The church was being infiltrated by Jews who wanted the blessings of the church but also were dividing the church by disputes over God’s law. It was a warning to them. But, that didn’t create exclusivity within the church. Thus, many were saved.

All the respect for John MC Art.but signs & wond.are not related Just to the apostles and in general, the Church of the first century. All the new born believers can experience it even today. Taking this reality out of the Bible, It is missing a great blessing that, by the power of Christ and His finished work at the cross, we can all taste and experience
