5:29 "Are you pleased to see me, or is that a Deluxe Tinker in your pocket?" 🤣

The Deluxe Tinker has been with me since 2002. All the tools suit well with my daily activities, especially the pliers –they're my favorite. Still using it today.

Yes, I’ve been carrying the Deluxe Tinker to work in my briefcase since about 1995. Very handy indeed.

Deluxe Tinker is my favorite household tool. I've got a SwissChamp in the drawer mainly for the in-line phillips screwdriver, which is more convenient than pulling out my toolbox. But the DT is a more convenient day-to-day knife because of thickness.

Happy Saturday Mr. A, I have a Deluxe Tinker as part of my home tool kit collection of SAK's which include the DT, the Cybertool M, the Wenger Tradesman, the Swiss Buck Taskmate, the Huntsman Lite & the Spartan Lite . I consider these SAK's too large to pocket carry but useful for general equipment maintenance & minor home repairs.

I think this makes for pretty perfect ‘kitchen SAK’ material, where bulk isn’t an issue, but you don’t necessarily want to be spending in multi-tool territory, or messing about with files and saws where they’re not needed. Of course this is a separate proposition from my pocket SAK, bag SAK, bedroom SAK, desk SAK and pliers-based multitool, but I’m beginning to suspect I may just looking for an excuse to buy another one.

I have one that I use for EDC. I carry it in a belt pouch, so I don't feel the weight.

It’s not bulky at all. I sometimes even carry the Handyman or the Ranger, which are thicker than the DT. The DT is phenomenal, I love its pliers.

Yay. Moar SAKs = always better! I've not had a SAK with the small pliers but I'm sure it would come in handy! I could find a good home for it in my truck or like you, in a kitchen drawer. Would not replace my Pioneer X edc though...

Although at 4 layers the DT is a bit bulky, I still keep one in my EDC rotation because the pliers are so handy.👍

This is a great knife for electronics hobbyists like me 👍

The Cybertool is even better, but the Hercules beats them both with its long Philips driver !

5:33 Now that'd be a good slogan for a Victorinox commercial. You're knocking on your elderly neighbour's door because she asked you to fix something for her and as soon as she opens the door she notices the bulge: "Are you pleased to see me or is that a Swiss army knife in your pocket?"

I like the pliers but there’s only one SAK I would get that has them, the Handyman. Why? Because I think of them for either work or as a hobbyist tool, and the other tools on the Handyman go right along with that. The pliers are also on the Swiss Champ but it’s too big for my tastes, and the other models they appear on (Angler, various Cybertools) also seem either too wide or else too limited in their uses without the other tools that the Handyman has.

Of course there’s always the occasional isolated need for a set of pliers like that where one doesn’t also need a saw or file, say you get a large splinter wedged in deep that’s too big for the tweezers to handle, then the pliers would be really nice to have right then. It’s happened to me more than once, and I didn’t have the pliers so I just had to do surgery using the blade.

At any rate, the Super Tinker is a really popular knife and it’s exactly like the Deluxe Tinker, minus the pliers, so if one can stand the added weight and width, then the pliers can only add to the usefulness of the knife. I think I’d still go for the Handyman though.

I've tried to like the Deluxe, but I can't get past the "pliers". They seem like overbuilt tweezers.

I have the mimi tinker and I love it. But I'm looking for the wenger traveler. I started to buying swiss army knives when I was in scouts. And also because I was also and still an a Macgyver fan.

I put the see through blue plus scales on my deluxe tinker.

The real use for the hook is to attach a Tshank jig saw blade to your SAK.

This is my most carried model, except for my keychain rambler. If I had to sell most of my collection, I'd be good with just a swisschamp, deluxe tinker, and rambler.

I find I don't often use the small pliers. I do have one on the cybertool lite, and I use it for electronics and jewelry, but I don't feel the need to carry it around. A Phillips driver though I use all the time, and the inline Phillips beats the backside Phillips for almost any task. This is why I like the Explorer over the Deluxe Tinker for puttering around the house.
