Cast Aluminum, Cleaning Action, & 4047 Filler

This video is about letting the cleaning action work for you on dirty or cast aluminum.
the cleaning action likes to go where there is argon shielding so a gas lens can help you get more cleaning action.
letting that cleaning action work before puddling usually helps and in fact, for really dirty aluminum, alternating a cleaning pass with a carbide burr and wire brush might be needed before getting a clean puddle.

On really nasty aluminum, I will do this and re-wire brush, use a carbide burr to clear away the trash that comes to the surface.

Ordered a 25ft flex hose w #9 torch from you and it came today. How have I welded for so long fighting the hose this whole time ! That flex hose is awesome! Makes the torch feel like it’s floating in the air.

Good call on using 4047 filler on castings. In general, casting alloys have a lower melting point than those used for extrusions & sheet so 4047 will often work better than 4043.
