Lowrance HDS7 - Sonar not working - FIXED!

We have a Lowrance HDS7 on the bench today with a defective sonar.
This one was giving the customer quite a bit of trouble, even making networked sonar unusable on other devices.

After a couple burnt up components we were able to successfully diagnose and repair the issue!

I purchased a brand new Elite 12 Ti2 this past November. When I installed it and went through setup, it exhibited the SAME exact sonar issues as the HDS7 you repaired in this video, and we're talking a brand-new, never-used unit. My guess is it had a similar issue with the actual sonar circuitry...shorted components, who knows. Was very disappointed considering it was a new unit (obviously being under warranty and brand new, it had to be replaced rather than repaired). I wasted hours troubleshooting the unit (and went through a transducer replacement) thinking I was doing something wrong, considering that everything else worked fine (GPS, mapping, etc. worked). Lowrance must be doing some cost-cutting with the electronic components.

Awesome job ! My depth and speed are in and out using gen 1 and a 2 with the structure mod and transducer even plugged a 3 in 1 into them and it's the same scenario

Hi i have a Elite 7ti with no sonar recognize. Sonar version shown 0.0.0 on 18.2 software . I tried to install version 4 and then 5 (navico service sent to me)but it doesn't work, has this ever happened to you?

Hds 9 doing the exact same. Blew a fuse 4 weeks ago. Replaced and graph wouldnt work. I get a running static screen and no depth reading.

What kind of eta is your turnaround?

mine is saying stopped in the middle not sure what to do dont have the option of shutting it off when i press the power button in options any help?

I have a problem with a gen 3 hds due to an overvoltage the sonar page does not start ... it had two diodes and a burnt resistor but it still does not start ... the screen is blank ... the sonar version gives me 0.0 .0 what can it.be?

I have the hds 9gen 2, the sonar doesn't work, too bad I'm Greece
