Actually, a true warp drive has nothing to do with propulsion, which itself will never allow practical travel theough space beyond the solar system. A warp drive will warp or bend an area of a portion of a field in space large enough for the spacecraft to travel through. Then while the event horizon opened into hylerspace or a wormhole in hyperspace is stablized by electromegnetic pulses or rays, the ship after entering through will be carried away faster than light speed to a destination.
