Metabox P775TM-G Laptop Review - RTX 2080 + 9900K!

Показать описание
The Metabox P775TM-G (Clevo P775TM1) is a crazy laptop, featuring a desktop Intel i9-9900K CPU and Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics, making a great desktop replacement or portable workstation, but just how well does it perform and what temperatures are we looking at? In this review I’ll test thermals, overclocking, undervolting, gaming performance, fan noise and more to show you exactly how well it runs.

I have ordered one of these under the Sager brand, this will be my second Sager/Clevo laptop. I like to think of these as more of a portable gaming desktop then a laptop. I can't wait for it to arrive!

You should do a tutorial on how to undervolt. Your videos are amazing man I really enjoy them.

I priced it out with a 9900K, 32 Gigs, Windows 10 Pro, 1 TB 970 SSD, RTX 2080, 17.3 QFHD 3840x2160, Killer 1550 Wifi, no optical, carbon wrap and the price came up to $7546 or 147.01 per week. I think I'll wait for the 3rd Gen Ryzen.

Chuck Norris wants his jet engine back! LOL! Not surprising that the 2080 doesn't OC too much, as it's similar in the desktop versions of Turing. I guess we're so used to Pascal when overclocking. Same thing happened when going from Maxwell to Pascal. None the less, it's quite a nice laptop you Aussie's make! Though, I did have to laugh when you mentioned and showed the "subwoofer"! Excellent review Jarrod. As always, I appreciate how thorough your information is.
Have a great day!

Thanks for including the SD card readings. That's something important to photo and video content creators when download content off the card; and is something that you never get on these reviews.

Thanks bro. I didn't know it has 2 m2 slots. I had one m2, I didt know what to do with it until I say you video.

Thanks for retesting the Witcher 3 Jarrod! For the RTX 2080 mobile
I calculated a 26% increase over the GTX 1080 mobile on the ASUS Rog GI703 CHIMERA, closest match I found (I know CPUs are different). With same CPU it say we get a 20% performance increase, that really decent.

Crazy Power but underwhelming cooling. Thanks Jarrod for your hard work. It would be nice to see a RTX 2070 laptop vs 1070 laptop comparison. :)

@Jarrod’sTech I would just like to say that both the new Dell G5 and G7 are now available in Sweden.

I got Sager as my first laptop with the 980m because it was just cheaper and a better deal. This time around I'm thinking the same thing lol. Upgraded it's only 3300 vs the base version titan being 3600. Hard to find Sager reviews, thanks!! Those stress test temps are really good I'm surprised

Such a beast of a machine. If the Area 51m turns out to be a bad performer this is definitely gonna be my weapon of choice. I've decided I want a mobile desktop. So something like this is on my short list.

Do you have a desktop 2080? Would be nice to see this against a desktop.

Oh and thank you for bringing the Witcher 3 back to the tests. I still play this from time to time since there are so many missions. One day I'll finish it. So it's nice to know how it performs.

Hey man. I love you videos and how informative they are. I know you have trouble securing review units as a smaller channel but I was curious if you had any plans on reviewing the msi gs75? If so when are you expecting to be get it?

How looks can be deceiving... another great review and another fantastic machine! Cannot help but thinking how well would it perform in CAD/CAM applications...

I think that QHD 120 Hz panel is appropriate for this beast of a laptop...incredible pixel density and responde time..better than 1080p 144 Hz....AGREE?

Jarrod, Trying to decide between this and aw 51m.
I've watched your reviews of both. It looks like the clevo struggles to keep the CPU cool Vs the 51m. Am I reading this correctly? X

What's the tdp on the GPU? How does it compare to the desktop version? Sorry if you covered this in the video haven't had a chance to watch it yet, I will watch it when my lil boy falls asleep haha thinking about getting this laptop from CEX as it's only 1100 which seems like a mad bargain.

I have just got one of these in UK with a 2080 and 9700k, demolishes everything, however one has to do some cooling mods to get it to run sweet, I de-lidded my cpu using rocket cool 89 and re-lidded with rocket cool copper lid and thermal grizzly cryonaut, also cryonaut on GPU and CPU lid. CPU was undervolted by -100mv max tdp set at 120watts 4.6ghz all cores, any more is not realistically possible due to thermal throttling and undervolt but all chips are different. Saw a 10c drop in temperature from de-lid, so intel are using shit solder on 9th gen. This is a usual procedure with Clevo owners, coming from the previous model with 6700k GTX1080 its the norm.

Deus Ex Mankind Devided, is knows for punishing hardware CPU would throttle before de-lid, now sits at 87c and GPU at 70c. Tested metro exodus with RTX to enable all GPU features. GPU sits at 71cwith RTX ultra and DLSS, CPU sits at 85c.
My verdict is its fantastic for a laptop, no issues with throttling GPU but you have to make changes to the BIOS in regards to CPU as it cannot stretch its legs fully as it can in a desktop but pretty impressive to have this amount of power in a laptop. Wouldn't recommend a 9900k as it runs hotter than this with a 9700k.
