As far as a teammate goes Mbappe, Messi will actually pass you the ball and increase your scoring chances. We’ve seen proof of this over the last 2 seasons. Ronaldo, although he’s one of the best to ever play the game, is not comparable to Messi in this respect. Aside from the 700-800+ goals Messi and Ronaldo have each scored in their careers, Messi is undoubtedly the better passer and playmaker of the two. In both of his seasons at PSG, even though his goal-scoring numbers were down, he did LEAD the league twice in assists (in his first year he came in second to Mbappe actually, but played 900 minutes less). Also, Mbappe is more similar to Ronaldo in his style of play. They’re both fundamentally central strikers and they both spend a lot more time in the box than Messi. There’s nothing wrong with that, but Mbappe, as the selfish player we know him to be, doesn’t seem like the type that would want Ronaldo getting as many scoring opportunities as him. If I had to guess, I think he would have scored less if he was playing next to Ronaldo the last two seasons. I do think he still would of lead the league in goals if we take into account Ronaldo’s age, but it would still be close. Anyway, teammates questions aside, what I do know is that Mbappe’s, without a doubt, a great player. He will definitely be one of the 3 Ballon d’Or candidates several times over the next decade, and may win a few. Who knows! One thing I know for certain is that he will NEVER be as great as Messi or Ronaldo. Anyone who believes that he might be in their league one day hasn’t yet noticed that he lacks the intangibles necessary for ultimate greatness…he’s simply a great goal-scorer, nothing more.
