We noticed that the hydraulics on our Kubota BX23S were starting to chatter, but when we filled it up with fluid it all ran out on the floor! We had an axle seal fall out. We share the problem, the find, and the fix.

Had same issue. Cleaned both sides and added bead of silicon to axle, pressed seal in and no issues since.

Great video !!! I'm trying to publish a similar scenario on the Kubota BX23S. It does involve a "ring" coming off unexpectedly. It deals with the loader. If you recognize my ID I've had my BX23S since March pretty much only cutting my lawn with it for now. I always take off the front and back buckets and leave them in the same place on my back patio which is a level surface. About 2 weeks ago, I couldn't get the front loader back on. I tried for like 15 minutes and finally quit. A few days later, I went back to try again and it wouldn't go on. I then backed up my Kubota to take a better look at the ground surface to see if it really was level. It was perfectly level, but what wasn't level was the feet of the front stand for the loader. The left leg was about an inch off the ground. I figured maybe I bent something trying to put it on. I looked at everything and then finally noticed the right bar that holds the stand was missing one of the circular clips and it allowed the bar to come off that holds the other piece in its designed position. I measured the left clip and saw it was about 1/2 inch. I went to the local hardware stores to buy a replacement. The Kubota clips were silver. The ones at the hardware store were black. . I didn't put 1 and 1 together at that point as to why the color difference. Unfortunately, the big hardware stores, without mentioning their names, didn't have the correct size. Off to Ace hardware. They had both the silver clips and the black clips. At this point I realized the silver clips were stainless steel.
I'm pretty sure the correct size is 9/16 that's needed. I bought a few extra for future needs in case it happens again. My Kubota only has 201 hours on it now for those who want to know the hours. I'll try to post the video I made on it to make it more clear which piece I'm talking about and how to replace it.

I am wondering if a vent got clogged.
Not shure where it is, but it must have one.
As the fluid expands that pressure has to go some where. Chris

I've had mine for six years and that hasn't happened yet. When it does you can come up and laugh.

This just happened to mine. My brother was moving a lot of tree debris around and a piece was wrapped around the axle shaft and looked like it spun the seal off. I am contemplating cutting a piece of sch40 pvc pipe that will wrap around the axle just to hold it on in those types of circumstances. That fluid is expensive.

Happened to mine as well, a vine got wrapped around the axel and it worked the seal out :( eaasy fix but costly fluids, i had just finished the 100 hour service

Curious are your rear tires filled with ballast?

I wonder how long that seal lasted after you got all that dirt in it and just pushed it back in 🤦🏻‍♂️
