Training Every 4 To 7 Days

Mike Mentzer's philosophy of training every 4 to 7 days is grounded in his belief that muscle growth happens during recovery, not during the workout itself. His "Heavy Duty" method emphasizes performing one or two sets to failure, which maximizes muscle stimulation in a short, intense session, thus necessitating longer recovery periods to allow for adequate muscle repair and growth. This schedule prevents overtraining, which can hinder progress by not giving the body enough time to supercompensate, where muscles rebuild stronger than before. It also accounts for individual recovery differences, ensuring everyone can tailor the frequency to their body's response, promoting optimal growth and strength gains while avoiding the pitfalls of excessive training volume.

I know Mike's idea is best. So I started to follow what he said. For me I do grow more, when I take more time to recover.
There is a method for everyone, and remember always that what is good for you; may not be good for you. Critically analyze your results, and the regimen that works best for you.

Всё правильно: сегодня это называется супер-компенсацией. При правильно рассчитанной нагрузке - эта супер-компенсация может составлять до 7-9 дней отдыха. Для мелких мышц - пару дней отдыха. Для крупных - до недели и больше.

What were those "training" sessions like though? How long? How many sets? How much weight?
