Alien Romulus! The one that's the most like Alien, if you believe the critics and also probably me. It's got blood, it's got Xenomorphs, it's got Offspring! What more could you ask for? Here's everything right with Alien: Romulus!

Offspring’s design is the definition of “thanks, I hate it”. It’s a perfect blend of the uncanny valley and a real person. It makes me squirm every time it’s on screen, and I love it.

This was the first alien movie in a long time that legit made me squirm in fear and anticipation. That hallway scene with all the face huggers was intense

I know Cailee Spaeny is Alien Romulus's lead, and she does great, but David Jonsson is the star. The fact he took a character defined as monotone and added such an emotional dimension to him made his transformation scary. I hope he has a long career ahead of him.

"Summon Cthulhu because you need a fourth for poker night" is definitely a movie I'd be first in line to see on opening day.

I’ve seen more horror movies than i can count, but the “offspring” xenomorph is the first creature to truly trigger that base, primal, “I Should Not Be Looking At This” tingle at the back of my neck. Kudos and curses to whoever designed that monstrosity.

"36 left... which is 108 too many."

LOL that was comedy gold.

3:25 I only recently learned that canary cages had an O2 canister attached to it so if the canary did fall unconscious due to asphyxia, it could be quickly brought back to life and that cage in the movie HAD THE CYLINDER!

So... even birds have more rights than people.

One thing I love about the Offspring's design is the messed up hips and the limp. It's like the fetus was severely injured, or possibly even killed when Kay took that fall running from the Xeno.

One thing I do like is that they make the face huggers as much of a threat as they were in Aliens. That scene with Newt and Ripley in the lab is one of the best scenes in Aliens and I’m glad they expanded on it in this one.

Honestly such a refreshing film. The visuals were stunning. The aliens seemed smart again.

The fact the xenomorph caught her not to save her but cause it wanted to kill her itself is so great adding a tiny bit more emotion to them

I liked that the late Ian Holm's family gave their blessing for his likeness to be used as Rook, with his widow expressing her delight that he was able to live on after his death.

I love how they wrote Bjorn's character arc in relation to his storyline. It's refreshing to see a bigoted character who doesn't magically change into a monster or improve as a person. His death reflects how he still cares about those closest to him even though his hatred blinds him to moving forward.

The way I gasped when they revealed the Offspring.

The instant I saw the Black Goo Canister appear in the lab, my first thought was, "Oh, I can't wait to see what abomination they cook up with this." And the Offspring did not disappoint on that front.

I agree with a lot of people that CGI faced Ian Holm is still not great. They should’ve just done a practical head and made it more messed up. I’m glad they went through all the proper requirements though to get his families approval.

16:54 I think the autoaim is also there to maximize the chances of neutralizing a threat while reducing the chances of breaching the hull of the space station/ship.

Andy really stole the entire movie, I loved his sibling relationship with Rain. David Jonsson portrayed him remarkably well, and I hope he gets more mainstream roles afterwards.

19:44 this is where the movie felt really smart to me because 1. Yes they got rid of the aliens. But 2. Of course the acid would still be there and 3. Zero gravity. Fede doesn't cheat. Even more so it leads to an awesome zero gravity maneuvering sequence that still has tension.
