16-Year-Old Freed From Sand Hole at Beach #shorts

Twenty firefighters and lifeguards dug to rescue a 16-year-old girl stuck in a sand hole in San Diego's Mission Beach.

Ironic how this girl was unknowingly digging her own grave. Hats off to the first responders.

I experienced someone dying this way 12 years ago. It is horrifying and I can't believe she is ok. A miracle that could have ended so horribly!

Lost a friend years ago this way…his dad took him and a friend of his to the beach. They had dug a huge hole, and at one point my friend reached in to shovel out some more sand, and fell in head first with the sand caving in on him. His friend ran over to Chad (my friend)‘s dad, and told him, “Chad fell in the hole, and I can’t get him out!” When they got to the hole, all Chad’s dad saw were Chad’s shoes sticking out of the sand. When he was finally freed he had gone so long without oxygen to his brain that he would up on machines in the hospital including a feeding tube. Eventually, his family made the difficult decision to remove him from the machines…he was only ten years old. Rest easy, Chad—love and miss ya, buddy. 🙏🏻♥️

That's absolutely terrifying, I'm extremely scared of tight places and I would be freaking out. Thank goodness for everyone there working to save her life. I hope she never puts herself in that situation again, and that she never stops loving, and respecting the beach and the ocean. It's a beautiful, yet dangerous place if you're not careful.

One thing that always fascinated me is how the same kids you can barely get to help you do yard work will spend all day in the hot sun moving enough sand to bury the sphinx

There needs to be a nationwide educational social media campaign to bring more awareness of the dangers of digging holes in sand, and aIso the danger of "burying" people in sand.

I was a Jersey Shore kid, we never dug holes in the sand. Lay on the beach + covered with sand = buried.

I'm glad she's okay, but I hope her and her friends now understand how stupid it was to be digging a massive hole along the beach. She's obviously very lucky that she didn't end up completely covered or packed in so tight that she ultimately died from positional asphyxiation due to not being able to expand her chest well enough to take in breaths.
