Summary:
Hello, my name is Flora and I am a sign language interpreter from Greece. "Growing Globally" basically means sharing. This sharing happens in two ways. The first way is sharing of knowledge in research and in education of sign language interpreters. Finally getting to know deaf people from other countries raises our cultural awareness about the Deaf community, which is necessary for interpreters. The second way is professional development. This sharing includes learning different professional practices, approaches, ways to work with difficulties, ideas and tools that we can use in our work. Also the support we can provide to each other, especially in the countries where interpreters are not organized yet, thus contributing to the rise of our professional status worldwide. Both of these things will lead to the recognition of our profession. As a result of all this sharing and growing globally, a strong global community of interpreters will be created.
