Thinking about traveling outside the U.S. but you’re not a citizen? 🚨 Be careful!

Leaving the country could put your immigration status at risk, leading to denials, delays, or even being barred from re-entry.

Attorney Jim Hacking explains the dangers non-citizens face when traveling and how to protect yourself before making a decision.

🔹 Know the risks before you leave the U.S.!

At Hacking Immigration Law we're dedicated to spreading the truth about immigration in the U.S.

Our goal is to get people the help they need so that they can live united with their families and live the American dream.

I am passionate about my message because I stand for what I truly believe is right.

We fight for immigrants and won't be stopping any time soon.

Hi guys! Green card holder here. I’m currently outside of the US on a 2 week visit. I will be flying back to the US in 2 days. I will update y’all how that goes.

UPDATE (03/26/25): I just landed at JFK 2hours ago, and all went smoothly at immigration. Just asked how long I had traveled for and purpose of visiting. My honest opinion is there is a lot of fear mongering going on. Immigration lady was like, “welcome home”. It was the first time traveling outside the IS after getting my green card

Guys as a lawyer, he’s saying better to wait until the end of the year so as lawyers, they can collectively see how current cases go through and resolve themselves through litigation and then as lawyers, they will have better information on how to advise people who want to travel. Listen and stop getting triggered. A lot of these cases in the news speak for themselves.

People Be Careful, we found out today that a friend of ours who’s a green card holder was going to go on a cruise with his family which he has done before with no issues. He said prior to the cruise he was interviewed for an hour which had never happened before. He has no criminal record or any harmful history. Times have changed and everyone should be cautious.

My Dominican step-daughters have their 10-Year Green Cards, and recently returned from a 10 day trip to and from the Dominican Republic. There were no issues with U.S. Customs.

Good video. No fear mongering. Just being realistic. In reality it's probably more likely than not that you will be able to reenter, but right now there is a also a higher than usual risk that you might run into problems. So the advice to be mentally (and to be turned back and spend time resolving an immigration issue is very solid indeed.

He is totally right. It doesn't matter if you have a clean record, they can still deny you reentry, they can even detain you. So don't take it for granted that you have a clean record.

They are only stopping individuals who have violated the terms of their green card, such as staying outside the country for more than six months or committing a felony. My mom just returned from India, and she is a green card holder.

I am Indian citizen with GC. I had left US 2 yrs ago to take care of parents in laws who were in miserable health conditions.
Came back to US with valid reentry permit and they let me in.
Officers were very nice to hear me out and showed sympathy about my FIL who expired.
I feel like things are being exaggerated by the media.

Its true, even European citizens got arrested/sent to detention center for minor issues. EU has issued an advisory for people refrain traveling to US.

Right advice, go with the flow and be aware what is going on.

This is sound advice. Your re-entry might depend on who you meet on re-entering the US. If the government itself is defying the laws, what chances have we got

My husband is a Green Card holder. He just returned from a trip to Taiwan, and there were no issues.

Permanent residence is a privilege, not a right. You all ought to remember that. I am a greencard holder going back and forth whether I should visit my country this year and I think this is sane advice. These are different times we’re living right now. It’s simple, if you don’t have emergency funds to sustain you in case you’re kept out, then don’t leave. Otherwise you can brave it and see what happens. You might be lucky. Or you might become a cautionary tale. Just remember, this is a different government. They’re not playing.

10 plus year green card holder here. I’ve been out and in the countries for the past 5 months with no issues. If you’re a green card holder with no criminal record. You should be perfectly fine. Don’t let people scare you

If you have a valid green card you should have no issues unless you have committed crimes…
