I don't care about taking photos that much.
So the Red Magic wins for me, especially with that beast of a battery.
The only thing I don't like, is no option to get the opaque version of the phone on the higher ram/storage options.
Not much of a fan of the transparent back, especially when the previous model can get dust under the glass.

Here's a summary
Nubia REDMAGIC 9 pro
the +
- All around screen with invisible selfie cam (around 93% of screen)
- the RGB fan at the back
- the cameras at the back are like fused to the phone (perfect symetry)
- the design (good old brick like)
- snapdragon 8gen3 + Red core chip for image processing in game and haptic feedback
- Headphone Jack with DTS x Sound + snapdragon sound
- loud speakers (but probably not as précise as the rog phone 8 pro)
- Ludicrous/Diablo Mode (now accessible throught the game plugins, guarantees the phone to substain max clock on both Cpu and Gpu while playing)
- Emulation stellar performance
- good call quality
- overall smoothness
- 120 hz
- A Big Ass 6500 mah
- Ultra eco battery mod
- Price to performance (650 for 256go or 799 for 512go)
- above average cameras (at the back)
- bloat free
- shoulder triggers (although the asus rog phones air triggers are better for customisation)
- haptic feedback
- gaming switch
- 2 years of Major android update + 2 years of security updates (confirmed with the redmagic support)

the -
- 1600 nits peak brightness (while the rog phone 8 pro is over 2000)
- the speakers could be more precise (they are very good for gaming but not so much for music)
- Android major updates policy
- translations (about 95% have been fixed)
- Usable but still terrible selfie cam
- Redmagic camera app (needs a GCAM for better quality)
- Needs an update for better heat reductions (apparently the chinese version had it fixed but EU must wait to get that update)
- certains games (mostly no one knows games, arent compatible yet with the phone)
- Android updates only every 3 months (like samsung used to do with their tablets back in the day)
- The design while looking high tech is not appealing for your average consumer
- the shoulder triggers are not as pleasing to activate compare to the air triggers

Screen alone, red magic. I dont game on mobile but that all screen is a pleasure to look at. I dont care about the mediocre front cam.

It seems to me like the Asus is the overall better phone. But the redmagic is so close, and with starting prices that are $500 apart, Asus isn't offering enough more to make up that price difference.

I have the red magic 9 pro here in the west coast, I enjoy the changes from a different phone.

Im currently using the redmagic 9pro it doesnt disappoint trust me. I think its better then the rog 8 by far especially considering i paid £560 for the rm while the rog8 cost £1099

Great video, very informative and finally the long awaited comparison. I personally see no reason to pay the much higher price for the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro.

I have the Red Magic and the battery charges in less than 20 min. It's insane how good the battery is on the Red Magic Pro.

Redmagic all the way....with the current price there is no competition. Big win for RM. I have the cyclone model. Super happy.

I’d love to see a stress test between the two both with and without the external cooler

I swear you’re like the most underrated tech tuber. Love that your videos focus on gaming too. Keep up the grind king

Been using rog phones since the rog 3 came out and they were amazing, gaming monsters and probably the most beautiful designs ( for a gamer). But one thing i never understood why people are comparing cameras on a gaming phone. You are getting a phone built to perform at the highest level, so having a mid camera shouldn't even be a problem... I mean you either want a good all around phone ( iPhone Samsung Oppo etc. ) or you get a phone that focuses only on gaming performance.

I'm *definitely* getting one of these phones this year, mainly to play codm on. Leaning heavily towards the Redmagic.

I love the innovation on both sides, you have the integrated fan, the triggers, a hidden camera, a hidden display, 165hz refresh rate, insane performance, an external wireless cooler with buttons, subwoofer, dual front facing speakers, 2 usb-c ports, keeping the headphone jack and adding one on the cooler, stand on the cooler, ingame customisation, performance modes, battery passthrough, motorised cooling fins, cooler that cools the screen, really high touch sampling rate, really good haptic and gyro sensors, really good cooling solutions, large batteries, rear screens, unique designs, lots of ram. Just to name a lot.

Redmagic is insane man I bought it 2 weeks ago I'm shocked, also you didn't talk about the expanded ram which can be extended by 10 for a 26 gb in total I mean I don't need that many but still mind blowing, this phone is umbeatable this year it's half the price for a better product, I appreciate the hidden selfie camera, the complete flat screen with no camera bump and the battery, i used to have a rog too (6) but i got a terrible experience with it they released an update that broke the phone, camera made the device instantly crash and it staied on bootloop for hours every time you shut the phone, i think they did it intentionally so you buy a new device, asus no more personally

Great video thank you! I have a Lenovo legion duel and I absolutely love it, but sadly Lenovo gave up on the gaming phone market so I'm having to look elsewhere for a new phone. I know you said you didn't like the front camera on the Red Magic, but having a giant black dot on the front for the ROG phone is definitely a big deal breaker for me, and having a good camera isn't that important to me. Thanks to your video I'm more confident now I'll be going with the Red Magic phone.

Just the video I'm interested in. I was looking at these two.

The why some graphic options are not available in other phone is that the game is not yet optimized for that specific game especially since 8 gen 3 is a new chipset
