Yes, you can view your videos & pictures. It's a great add-on. Downfall is that It's a little tough to view vids & pics in bright sunlight. It was the first thing i grabbed when i got my Hero2.

You do not need a waterproof housing for the Contour unless you're going diving.
I've used my ContourHD1080 for 6 days a week for two years in some of the worst English weather and it's still fine today.

I disagree, I use to have a few contour HDs for recording paintball matches and track day racing. The mounting accessories are pretty flimsy and controlling the camera's settings is pretty difficult without hooking it up to a computer first.

Disappointed to hear the Contours image quality is not quite up there with the GoPro, but I do mountain biking and with a top helmet mount, anytime I go under a low branch I am going hurt my neck or smash the camera. Tilt on the camera is also a key, but I need to know if I have the right tilt and on the contour with the iPhone as the view finder can tell me that. Arrrr why can't one company get it right.

@DarqeDestroyer You comment is correct at some points but Sonys latest POV action cam was a let down on one feature to me and that is the ability to record at 60fps
