It is safe to say that African football is rich in quality and individual talent.
We have compiled the list of the greatest African footballers of all time. Most of them have achieved a lot throughout their professional careers for club and country.

10. Essam El-Hadary. Egypt.
The goalkeeper, also known as "The High Dam," is one of Egypt's most decorated players as well as one of the finest African footballers of all time. He made his debut for the Pharaohs in 19 96. He has won four African Cup of Nations trophies with the Egyptian Pharaohs, three of which came in a row in 2006, 2008, and 20 10.
He became the oldest player to play in a FIFA World Cup match at the age of 45. It took place in Russia during the 20 18 edition, with Saudi Arabia as the opponent. He won the Egyptian league eight times. He also won the Sudanese league title.

Samuel Kuffour, Rigobert Song and Michael Essien not even in the mentions?

I can even understand that, but pronouncing Sadio Mane's last name as "Main" really killed it....

Always arguable doing a ranking but it's very hard missing Rabah Madjer and Thomas N'Kono.

Honestly, all these players were great, but if we are being honest with ourselves, no one played the beautiful game better than Samuel Eto'o and I am tempted to say no one ever will. His accomplishments, goal tally, and influence, especially considering the crop of players in his time, were just unprecedented. He was clearly robbed of a Ballon D'or Award and has since gone on to do the unimaginable till retiring at an advanced age for a striker. He was also at one point the highest-paid footballer on the planet when he played in Russia during the embers of his career. Currently, Eto'o is Head of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and has since brought humongous change to the national league and is equally much loved by the people (which is a great achievement for any Cameroonian politician). Samuel Eto'o Fils was arguably the most popular and lethal African player of his time and there has not been a player before or after him to match what he did. While we hope for a better crop of African Players - the like of the Toure brothers, the Ayew Brothers, Aubameyang, Mo Salah, Mane and the now sensational Nigerian Osimhen have all but watered our appetite for a sensational return of the next Eto'o Fils. Evidently, we should look to Cameroon for a successor (despite the inability of Olinga, Aboubakar, Choupo-Moting, Clinton, etc. to live up to that legacy) especially if take into consideration the fact that the world's current hottest talent is a Cameroonian who plays for France in the form of Kylian Mbappe.

Have you only read about those players and randomly underlined the video with some of their highlights? Because it sounds like it. No disrespect, but this video feels so out of touch.

How come Eto with all his great success in both club and country never for once seem good enough to win the BBC African footballer of the year?

Sorry Mr commentator, all those names you mentioned were past players and are no longer in active soccer. This means that those players are retired from footballing. Please do us a little favor by talking about African current footballers. Thank you 🙏
