In this first lecture, Stanford Senior Data Scientist Antony Ross gave us an engaging introduction to machine learning, covering the fundamentals of how machines learn, our pivotal role in guiding this process, and why data is crucial.
Additionally, Antony showed us how to apply machine learning techniques to predict outcomes using data from a smartwatch, illuminating many of the practical applications of machine learning in healthcare.
Antony Ross is the Senior Data Scientist for the Stanford Data Ocean at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has conducted research in muscle physiology and genomics related to improving athletic performance. His current work is focused on machine learning and AI, and projects related to biomedical data science and bioinformatics.
