Excitement filled the arena on Day 3 of the 2023 Scottsdale Auction when the first winning bid echoed across the auction pavilion after two Preview Days and the annual Opening Night Gala, which officially celebrated the beginning of Auction Week at Barrett-Jackson.

Collector cars powered the afternoon, as bidders and enthusiasts filled the arena to view and bid on a diverse array of vintage and modern-day vehicles, all selling with No Reserve. The excitement began with Patrick Lauder, the anthem singer emeritus of the Arizona Coyotes NHL team, singing the national anthem prior to Barrett-Jackson’s debut of several new elements on the auction block, including new LED screens. Monday’s docket featured nearly 100 vehicles that represented decades of automotive history, ranging from a @ford Model T to a Pontiac Firebird. The top-selling vehicle of the day was Lot 77, a 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda, that sold for $110,000 followed by Lot 75, a 1957 @Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible that sold for $91,300 and Lot 74, a 1959 @Chevrolet Impala custom coupe that sold for $83,600.

those drivers need to be retrained, how many times is the passenger door locked when that great looking woman is trying to do her job of opening the passenger side door for the cameraman, they sit in line for a while before hitting the stage, come on unlock the passenger door for the lady .

When they talk about kids not learning automotive or other shop skills just look at history. The Roman's got lazy and they no longer exist.

It wasn’t so much stylists who kept domestic (American) headlights, and lighting in general, roughly 20 years behind the Europeans. Because of this, some European manufacturers decided to keep antiquated lighting as a cost saving measure for manufacturing continuity. In the US, the issue was bureaucracy. Between the NHTSA and the DOT and the OEMs, lighting improvements were seriously hampered, even dangerously so. Meanwhile, in Europe, the considerations included pedestrian safety as well, since those cities are built such that a car isn’t REQUIRED or flippantly used to get EVERYWHERE OR ANYWHERE. Cars hitting pedestrians at lower speeds, like 10-20mph in Europe are quite common, and subtle changes in front end design can help make the difference between a serious life changing injury and a less severe injury. That’s why some of our cars aren’t approved over there. Funny how they car about personal safety over there, but over here in the US, they care about stockholders and re-election more than personal safety. Lighting of the future has been available for more than a decade but we held on to glass halogen lamps for far too long, with archaic optics and lousy actual road illumination and even worse oncoming traffic blinding issues. One day we will enter the 21st century. I’m still saying that the LEDs as used in the newer cars will at some point turn out to be a serious health and safety issue. There are no free lunches in physics. But the Light Emitting Diode appears to be just that. More brightness, ease of hue variance, without the accompanying heat and amperage. There simply HAS to be an unforeseen balance.

I would have not let the Buick go for under 32K. They lost money on that deal.
