Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down ending of The Penguin.

The finale of the season is here and there's nothing now that can get in Oz's way.

Oop.

Obviously The Batman 2 is right around the corner and with the final episode we have a lot to talk about. Throughout this video we're gonna break it all down and talk about everything. Whether it's easter eggs, all the little details the finale pays off or just what we thought of it, this video will go through it all.

Heavy spoilers right from the off though as I want to immediately talk about that ending. If you haven't seen it then please turn off the video and go watch it because it's great. Please hit the thumbs up if you enjoy it and with that out the way, let's get into the breakdown.

Ok so we close out with several gut punches. I will talk about how we got to that point but yeah, its a incredible devastating ending.

Vic is dead, Sofias back in Arkham and Oz is living out an Oedopis complex. He's finally got everything he wanted or at least a simulation of it.

We close out with him and Eve dancing with Oz wearing his quintissential outfit. He has his classic tux, bow tie and Eve even has his cigarette in the holder from the comics. This is something Burgess Merediths incarnation used and its what his father Tucker had at the start of Batman Returns.

Bro for real Batman better beat the sh*t out of Oz for killing Vic

The makers really made this show with one purpose: "You will be satisfied when Batman beats the fuck out of Penguin"

It was a good idea (in my opinion) to not have Robert Pattinson appear as The Batman. The Bat Signal at the end is plenty of a presence.

oz had to do this. This whole show I kept saying OZ was a "good guy." And that was bc of all the tenderness and love he showed vic. I kept thinking to myself "The Penguin is a villain.... so how are they going to solidify that?" Killing vic and taking his money completely erased all the good we saw this whole season. It was perfect. The cherry on top was him intentionally keeping his mother alive as a vegetable when she made him promise not to.

The Batman 2 can't come out soon enough. Justice for my boy Vic!

I actually didn't recognize Eve at first at the end and really mistook her for the young Frances being hallucinated by Oz. This makes it even more twisted that she's basically serving a similar purpose for Oz like Judy dressing as Madeline in Vertigo for Scotty's desired fantasy and blurs the line between Oz seeking motherly comfort and acting on repressed desire. This makes Oz as disturbed as Norman Bates and Frank Booth when it comes to pursuing women and factoring the image or reference of "mother" into the picture.

The craziest detail in him killing Vic he never shed a tear after the murder so cold

This batman only solves murders and fights goons and letting them go after. He isn't made to fight wars. He only attacked the iceberg lounge for relation to his cases. So i understand why a city war of mobsters was too much for batman to handle and why he wasn't present at any point in the series. In the sequel he will use penguin to gain intel on freeze or hush and there might be a subplot of him becoming mayor while batman is busy with the killer.

I still didn't imagine that Victor could come out alive, but the truth is that he was taken by surprise here and it showed in that scene that Oz was crying. It was because I had genuine respect for him. But with his mother, now alone, he makes it clear that Oz... is a dipo psychopath.
And now Batman will be in charge of making him come out of the shadows and smash him against the wall.

The Penguin was always a brutal, very intelligent, and powerful gangster, his enemies always underestimated him making him a foe on par with the Joker/ Riddler/ Mr Freeze

At first, the bat signal showing up made me roll my eyes (keep reading, please. Lol). Not cause it’s not cool, but because we’re in a time where things like that or things that feel familiar popping up in a show/movie that’s great on its own can dilute a show being amazing on its own even if it’s something as small as that sometimes.

Then I thought about it. The signal popping up is perfect, because it’s earned. At this point, Penguin is finally, well, THE Penguin. Meaning he’s a threat, and is actively on Batman’s radar. Very seldom are these kinds of Easter eggs and cameo style teases used in a way that perfectly fits a narrative like this did.

I'm pretty sure that everyone expected Vic to die, but there's was some part of me wanted him to rule with him and grow as a great lieutenant of Oz.

But I'm still holding on hope that he'll return as Victor Zazs in some way and start killing everyone who works for Oz.

I can only hope...
