Even as a pure mathematics enthusiast, I enjoy your approach to teaching this topic at an introductory level (i.e. without involving limits and such).

The way I would always explain it to my younger sister only involves a bit of algebra: Let's say we wish to divide a (non-zero) number by zero. We can call this number x, and set the expression equal to y.

x/0 = y

Of course, this naturally implies that

x = 0y

Which (as students learn in arithmetic) is erroneous, as there is no y which satisfies this equation. Thus, division by zero is prohibited.

However, this is likely much less engaging for a young math student than your approach lmao.
