Not even using the same pickup on both. And obviously a humbucker bridge pu would sound different than a single coil. Compare them playing a lick with both guitars at the mid or front switch position

I love it. Especially in the electric world, spending thousand of dollars on a guitar sounds so silly to me. You’re really paying for a brand and a model. Now with acoustics, that’s where you’re actually paying for what you get. Like different wood variations and the sound they produce. You could probably swap pickups from a $5k electric, throw them on a Squire and there’d be about 20 people in the world who could identify the guitar itself is not what the pickups are on.

My Squier sounds and feels as good as the $1700 one 😅 Pickup swap, shaved fret ends, and rolled the fretboard edges. I have an actual Fender too, and they're basically the same.

Dude! The Strat Deluxe doesn’t need your help to sound better in this matchup!!! Put the Squire on the bridge pickup!!! Won’t change the winner but it will narrow the gap. Now … go get a cheap Squire Strat with a proper single coil bridge pickup, and we’ll need more than a cell phone speaker to hear a difference, if there’s even a difference to hear!!!
