Follow me here:

The battle between a American Fender Stratocaster Deluxe versus a Chinese Squier Stratocaster Affinity.
Both guitars play with the same settings on the Kemper Profiling Amplifier and the Klon KTR overdrive pedal and got a fresh set of D'addario .010 strings.

Simple: I would prefer the fender, but I just don't have the money.
So squier it is.

i found funny that you were dressing a more low-priced clothes while playing the squier

... now just imagine how silly he looked filming a single rendition of himself pretending to react to his other self xD

I won’t take this comparison seriously until you play Sultans of Swing

Just shows that even a budget guitar can sound wonderful with the skill you posses. Skill over equipments.

So that's what money sounds like.

Whenever I play a Squier I'm surprised, in a good way. They always seem to be more than what you paid for. Here the Fender win, but not by a landslide. The fact that you can compare a Squier to a Fender with a straight face speaks volumes as to the quality of the Squier.

This proves that the amp is far more important than the guitar for a good tone.

At the end: the audience dont cares about your equipment if it "sounds good" to their ears.. doesnt metter if its $3000 worth or $150.. thats the reality a lot of musicians dont like to accept

Squier : Vintage Sound, more Bass, less treble

Fender : Modern Sound, less bass, more treble

The Squier sounded mudier to me and the Fender pretty clear.

The Squier was a bit darker and, to my ears, just a bit murkier than the Fender but for the cost difference, I wouldn't make a big deal over it. It could also have been the fretboard, or the cable, or the pressure of your fingers, or any number of things. Both sounded excellent and you're a fantastic guitarist.

This proves that a really good guitar player sounds good on any guitar.

I think they both sound great. Of course a more expensive guitar is going to sound better out the box, you get what you pay for.
However, the beauty of a Squier is that you can customize and upgrade it with more expensive hardware and pickups over time if you like to make it 'yours' and sounding better- and still keeping the price tag low.

Another thing that I never considered till I got a fender strat is how good it feels to play because of the rounded frets and polished neck. It makes practicing super enjoyable and I end up putting many more hours than I did with my Squier.

The internal argument I always have with myself on this topic is: yes, the American deluxe does sound better. But... does it sound $1300 better?

Fender strat sounds more clear and bright....

The Squire sounds excellent! Back in the day we would have killed for something that good at twice the price ($ adjusted for the year)! Of course you could get a brand new Les Paul, Strat or Tele for under 800$ then also. It seems THOSE days are gone forever! The big guitar companies are insane with thier prices.
