While I practice minimalism/swedish death cleaning, I think of my mother and how few things she kept or had in the kitchen while I was growing up. We live in a time of extreme excess of 'things' that just is too much. She had only one set of everyday dishes, nothing fancy, and a set for special occasion. And she really had no need for the special ones as they only came out once a year! I strive to return to that simplicity.

Mugs are very personal aren't they, the feel, the look, the quantity they take. Looking spacious and ordered. Motivating me to get mine done too. ✅😊🌼☕

Wow I just came to realization that I have so many items in my own kitchen that I love but don’t reach out for. Setting a standard that something need to earn it’s place is like a light bulb moment

You are getting so much done! I struggle with the organization of our gadget drawer. The containers in there are not working for us. Dishes… ours are chipped. I’ve always loved the pattern - Furio Mesa. I may decide to change them next year. I like the ones you chose. I also do NOT like change. I’m very loyal to my stuff. They’re like old friends. If that makes sense. 😂

I have the same type of cabinets and the lower shelves I have to lay on the floor and almost crawl in to dig anything out! Whoever built my kitchen wasn't thinking of function. I can't imagine looking for stuff in my 70's in our current cabinets. 😂

I thought Swedish Death cleaning was getting rid of stuff. You have enough mugs for a diner.

I definitely have sentimental mugs. I have decluttered some but my son’s mugs are taking up a lot of my cupboard space. He doesn’t even use them all so I think I might take them out and box them up for when he ventures out on his own.

So jealous of those Disney mugs.🥰🥰🥰 I actually have some Be Our Guest mugs but have put them in the back of the cupboard. I think I need to declutter some others and start using the mugs I really love.

well done! I need to go through my mugs again. I got rid of a lot, but I've held onto some that are sentimental even if I will never use them because they're so small...

When my grandmother got married and then moved from a farm to a townhouse, she went through her kitchenware to hold a garage sale but her family got a first chance to go through everything. I still have a few things from her kitchen. Also after her memorial, the immediate family gathered at my parents' home with a table full of items that hadn't been set aside for anyone. We all took turns and got to pick out things that meant most to each.

If you havent used it in a Year, it can go. That's one of the best ways to decide if unused items can go

I’m going to go over to Melinda’s channel and subscribe as I see she has a tiny channel like mine. I already follow Dee and love her. Thanks again for the motivation I need. I think in the morning I’m going to tackle the kitchen with or without my husband’s help.😊
