Learn how to configure Custom Dimensions in Google Analytics 4 with Google Tag Manager.

When you send custom parameters to Google Analytics 4, and you want to see them in the interface of GA, you have to register them as custom dimensions.

Also, keep in mind that there are some limits related to Google Analytics 4 custom parameters (you can register up to 50 custom dimensions per property).

Nice video!

Maby it's also useful to mention the quotum GA4 (currently) has on the amount of custom dimensions you can make.

User based: max 25.
Event based: max 50.
Item based: max 10.

Hello Julius, it would be great if you coul'd do a video about reports of steps and events of a chatbot + if we have different funnels as ab tests how to track them, thanks for the good work !

Hi, in your case, you are sending the response (in array objects) in the dataLayer. How can I see the values in the free form?

Very well explained. One query I have, I am trying to export data from GA4 to BigQuery, There I dont see these custom dimension getting exporting. Is there any restrictions regarding that?

Very nicely done! Could you elaborate on how an event settings variable is better suited for tracking user-scoped dimensions? Wouldn't a user-scoped dimension hold its initial value indefinitely after being passed as an event parameter once?

How to export all pages by status from google console? For example, Crawled - currently not indexed. Can LookerStudio or PowerBI do it?

If I register parameters as Custom Metrics and Custom Dimensions in Google Analytics 4 but don't include them in any reports at the time, will GA4 still collect and save historical data for these metrics and dimensions from the moment they are registered, allowing me to use them for analysis in future reports?

I’m trying to track how often specific HTML elements (with unique IDs) on my website are clicked but can not see the the individual ID names in the reports.

I've set up a GTM trigger ("All_Clicks_Trigger") for all clicks and a GA4 event tag ("All_Clicks_Tag") with parameters like "Element_ID" ({{Click ID}}).
In GA4, I see the "all_custom_clicks" event in Debug View, with the correct "Click ID" values.
Created a custom dimension ("Element ID") with scope "Event" linked to the parameter "Element_ID."
Question: Is this setup sufficient to create an Explore report showing clicked element IDs by page and their frequencies? If not, what am I missing?

How accurate is GA4 data?

Can it track if a person clears all browser cookies?
