How the North Stars failed? The fair weather fans of the Twin Cities only showing up when the team was good.

Original owners almost folded the team in the late 70s. 2nd ownership group the Gund Bros planning on moving the team to San Jose after the 89-90 season after they finished DEAD LAST IN ATTENDANCE. 63% of the "fans" said they didn't care if the team left in a poll by the Strib and Channel 5 News at the end of that season.

The team gets saved and how the fans say thank you? By staying away for most of the 90-91 season. Their first sellout of that season was the last home game. And that wouldn’t have happened without the team playing great and the Buy 2 season tickets for the remainder of the 90-91 season and the 91-92 season and you'd get 1 more free deal the team did. After the 91-92 season with the team playing poorly and the ticket promo ended, attendace dropped again.
