As a woman, I can confirm I want to hang out with this dog in every possible venue. Woods, fields, meadows, beaches, the clurb, on a boat, with a goat, in a bog, with a frog, I just wanna pet this dog.

When I was a baby we had 3 newfoundland dogs and they were part of how I learned to walk. I would make some noice and reach up my hands, and one of the newfies (usually Bonnie the oldest and mother of the other two) would come over and stand next to me. I would then grab on to the long fur while standing up, and she would slowly start walking in a direction while looking back to check on me as I was shuffeling along holding on to her side. Those three, especially Bonnie, were basically my real life version of the nanny dog from Peter Pan.

I am a scuba diver, and on my Instructor's exams, I was 'rescued' by a Newfie. He clamped his maw around my wrist, pulled me to shore, and then sat 'on' me until 'help arrived'. And I stayed rescued for quite some time. 3 hours in fact. His owner (the help) couldn't get him off me. When I tried to enter the water again, I was prevented from doing so. Needless to say, these are wonderful dogs, but totally hopeless if you love the ocean. You will continuously 'be rescued'.

My service dog is a great Pyrenees and newfoundland mix, 50/50. I am very disabled but also very stubborn, which results in me pushing myself too hard, getting hurt, and having to be rescued. Sassy (my dog) checks me out throughly each time she rescues me, and if I am not too hurt, or just ended up in the floor, she wags her tail SO HARD helping me get back up, making sure im safely seated, then lues down on top of me for half an hour to ensure i dont do anything else stupid. Best dog ever <3

"Women would rather hang out with this dog than a man" I mean, who wouldn't? Look at it

My landlord a few years back had a Newfie named Thunder. One day I look outside, and Thunder is helping my landlord scale an icy hill in the backyard, and I have NEVER seen a dog look so happy and fulfilled.

I miss my Newfie (Odin was his name) so much. We lost him to Cancer at the end of August....RIP baby, you were the goodest boy.

My mom's grandparents rescued a scrawny black pup, all skin and bones. And so he was named "Bones".

Bones grew up into a giant black bear of a Newfie, sweet as can be, loved being with people. As my mom would tell it, her grandpa's favorite hobby was sitting out on the porch, watching solicitors pull up the driveway, Bones would gallop out to say hi, and the car would invariably turn around the drive and leave 😂

When I worked at a veterinary hospital there were a few Newfies that were patients. 10/10 dogs, always so sweet and calm. Loved whenever they came in for a checkup.

I had a cat that was raised by a Newfoundland. He was the most chill and laid-back cat I've ever met. He loved everybody and every animal but was also super protective of his family. Any dog that can raise a cat like that is a dog I'd love to have.

Three 🦫 beavers? As a Native American, I can tell you that's gold in trade standards. We only kill what we can eat. We use every part of the animal. Nothing goes to waste. J.s

When i was in high school my boyfriends family had a newfie, the very first time I met her she stood up and put her paws on my shoulder, and my immediate response was to give her the biggest hug ever! We were besties from then on, and I often house/dog/bunny sat for them.

I inherited a dog that was Newfie+?. He was WONDERFUL. One of the best stories happened because of his desire for a late night walk. I'm not very big; that made him look even bigger next to me. I became aware that car appeared to be following us and started checking to see which neighbors still had a light burning. Just as I was considering heading for someone's porch, the car pulled abreast, the window came down, and a man with a beautiful smile said, "Lady, that's a dog, right?" 'Yes he is ' "We thought you were walking a bear."😂😂 He was a great friend, and greatly missed.

And so much drool. I worked at a historic site on the L&C expedition trail and we had a day each year dedicated to Seaman where people brought their Newfoundlands to the park, and it was a tornado of fur, slobber, and cuddles. It was *great.*

We just lost our Newfound Doug. Without a doubt the best dog we ever owned. 😊
