I am a wax guy. Did the coating and went back to wax. IMO the deepest wet look around! KEEP ON ROCKING!

People tend to forget that a clear coat is a hard layer by itself, even if we sometime call a paint (the clear coat) soft and hard. But Ceramic coating is awesome at adding another layer of protection to the clear coat, it protect the paint from UV, contamination and enhance the gloss and makes cleaning the car more easy.

So if I have a little bit of marring on my ceramic coat, can a pro polish that out? Or does the coating have to be removed prior to polishing? Also, just out of curiosity, is the marring in the coating or in the clearcoat?

Hi Todd i have been watching your videos the past few weeks since it's the slow season for mobile detailing but my main reason for selling and applying ceramic coating would be the beneficial characteristics of longevity and can withstand the elements so much better than your traditional waxes and sealants but do you think most consumers get ceramic coating because of many detailers selling that the ceramic coating is swirl resistant or the coating will heal itself if swirls get created or fine scratches? Over the years of i have seen shops sell the ceramic coating and at some point down the line swirls start to appear on the coating and many people are left with the question of why they spent over $1, 000. I see the value in selling a ceramic coating to a client that keeps their vehicle garaged but should a detailer sell a ceramic coating to a client whose vehicle experiences exposure to the elements all year round including heavy snow months with road salt?

So, why would I want/need a ceramic coating for my vehicle? If it scratches like a clear coat and there is maintenance to keep it up, then why would I want to spend the extra money on a coating? What are the benefits of my coating my car and how do you “sell” this to a customer?

If your car has a ceramic coating and it dont get top dirty will a touchless wash be good?

So in theory would your car look worse if it's coated with a multi-year coating vs getting a light polish every year? I feel like 5+ years are kind of misleading, as you can't really do anything to the paint other than add more, and the paint is just as susceptible to damage as it is without a coating.

I find it hard to dry my coated car without making swirls. I cannot blow dry it for a number of reasons, so I am stuck with MF towels and a drying aid. Tried a bunch of towels, one softer than the other.

No matter how safely you maintain your vehicle during your washes you’ll get marring. It may not be from yourself but most likely people walking by your vehicle in parking spaces and driving pass construction sites.

I love you - but this is just not true. Let me tell you why. Lets take hard paint vs. soft paint. We all know that some paints scratches more easily than others. One car you pretty much cant even wipe your polish off withouth scratching the paint. Another car you can wipe it hard with alot of compound dust all arround and the clearcoat stays flawless. So if thats the case then a true professional ceramic coating arround 9-10H in hardness will make the surface much harder and smoother with less friction. Therefore it will not scratch as easily as the naked clearcoat. Offcourse you can still scratch your coating, and it wont take much to mar it. BUT a true thick, hard professional ceramic coating will 100% make the car more resistant to small scratches from washing and drying the car due to added hardness + less surfacetension and friction. Keep making awesome videos and contend. I just really dont agree with the statement that there is no diffrense between naked and coated paint. Completely falls in my opiniun.
