Meringue powder buttercream
Ingredients
74g granulated sugar
55g boiled water
14g Meringue powder - (I used Culpitt Meri white)
225g icing sugar/confectioners' sugar
225g Salted butter
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
I’ve been trying to find a recipe for a Meringue type buttercream using Meringue powder instead of fresh or pasteurised egg whites.
I stumbled across this recipe from King Arthur baking and thought I’d give it a try. It’s a mix of Italian and American buttercream, but I use meringue powder instead of egg whites.
I made some very slight changes, and I must say, it turned out soooo good (if I say so myself!)
So smooth and actually. It wasn’t too sweet.
It’s a stable buttercream, that pipes beautifully.
