Intel's CEO Pat Gelsinger has resigned after the companies performance could potentially be in jeopardy, but is there more to the story than first meets the eye? Was this a move from Pat, or was he forced out? Let's dig into it.

Time to vote out the board of directors.

Awesome! Time for a bean counter with no passion for engineering or deep understanding of the technology to take over again! I'm betting new CEO sells fabs by 2029.

The writing has been on the wall for Intel for years, but the key points in brief:
1 - Ryzen caught Intel completely off guard following years of complacency. They didn't expect it to be competitive, let alone a huge draw with consumers (lest we forget Intel had something approximating an 85%-90% market share prior to Ryzen).
2 - Intel's response was to panic release as many processors as it could. We've had circa 6 generations in 5 years. The majority of which being VERY lazy refresh designs (rather than AMD who nearly always offered legitimate generational performance uplift - or, at least, SOMETHING new).
3 - Intel's quality dropped, and by proxy, their reputation
4 - Can't make it better? Add more power! - The irony that Intel has managed to steal the 'toasty' crown which was, for a long time, one of their key jibes at AMD.
5 - CPUs not better than AMD? Let's still sell them for 20-30% more!

Yes, somewhat blasé, but it's hard to deny that AMD has simply been the more consistent, and dare I say, consumer friendly platform since Ryzen dropped and this has FINALLY started to bite Intel in the bum.

The only thing I'll miss is the very likely discontinued production of their GPUs. The market needed a player 3.

Is this a surprise to people? It shouldn't be. I remember when Apple tossed out Steve Jobs 😂. These are corporations and they have loyalty to no one but the shareholders

Don't forget about the discovery of a 6000 years old burial mounds on Intel Fab in Germany. That's another reason why it's sorta delayed

Honestly no hope for intel anymore.
Pat was gonna turn it around but now...

Well and intelligently articulated and foresightful secondary research observations. mb

It's common, to retain Investors. Intel has an obligation to the 49.9%. For now, I ignore all pre-release specs and newly released (bought) reviews. The market is shady.

PG under delivered. He couldn't even pull off the full amount from the Chips act. I'm glad he got chopped. Guy even cancelled Intel 2 nm.

Intel need new CPUS that have low power and massive caches to match AMD. They (Gelsinger) have had few years to catch up but instead have been just concentrating efforts refining what they have and upping the frequencies....increasing power consumption and making them into space heaters... And then they bring out "new" CPUs on a new platform with new unexpected and unfamiliar designations that barely perform better and in some cases worse than previous generation. That is a disaster.... And then their GPUs which came out as reasonably competitive have been left to stagnate with waning enthusiasm being shown from the company.... Bad... Yep, Gelsinger was useless why he got

Pat should not be the CEO in the first place. He is just a con man/show man!
