Not Taiwan, Xi Jinping’s China May Move To Grab Eastern Russia From A Weak Putin

While much of the world’s attention remains on Ukraine, China’s Xi Jinping cemented his position in Beijing for a third term. The end of 20th National Congress of Chinese Communist Party saw Xi emerge as the strongest leader since Mao Zedong. In the runup to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China and Russia declared a friendship “without limits”. However, the two countries have fought despite signing friendship treaties in the past. There has been speculation that the presence of ethnic Chinese Russians in the Far East could encourage Beijing to press north.

Not a fan of China but it would be funny to have them say they were conducting a special operation

So this would mean Russia would get a taste of its own medicine: "We want this land back because it once was ours but isn't any more". SMH...

If China is able to get back Vladivostok, then Japan by right should get it's northern territory as well. Fair and Square.

When I lived in China many Chinese expressed a hope to get back the land Russia grabbed from them. China is happy to play the long game but they definitely want their land back.

These "experts" didn't mention two things:
1. Russia will never voluntarily give up its territories.
2. Russia has nuclear weapons. Lots of nuclear weapons.

It's kinda Ironic how Russia demand the United States to return Alaska Territory to them, While China could do the same thing with their Territory in Vladivostok

China states "I'm your friend and there's no limits to our friendship and I'd like a slice of your pie"!

I have been waiting to see this happen. That's what those kind of friends do.

This is like a sick plot twist in a movie where the villain's 'friend' turns out to be their foe.

China could score an easy win. While battle testing it's troops. The world would hardly object right now. Would be a very smart move.

I would love to see China take part of Russia land, and then hold its own referendum where the residents decide to be part of China.

Highly doubt China would even try to attack Russia. Russia still has nukes and would be quite justified in using them against China in case of this betrayal as it is an attack on Russian land at this point, not simply an annexed region.

China currently encompasses an already vast territory, and despite the major economic development in Eastern China especially along the port trading cities and special economic zones, Western China remains comparably undeveloped.

Russia and China share an interesting relationship that deserves its own synopsis in detail to understand the wider historical context between the two superpowers. The notion that China’s current regime would seek to occupy and take over more undeveloped, cold, economically unsustainable territory, while simultaneously destroying a complex relationship between a major political ally, and trading asset, is frankly absurd.

Furthermore, the accusation that occupying Taiwan would be less beneficial than seeking alternative assets in far-eastern Russia, is negligent to the political importance of the Taiwan straight as a major buffer zone between pacific trade and the Americans.

If you were arguing that the international political implications of invading Taiwan would be too harsh to justify the invasion, accounting for the economic benefits of taking hold of Taiwan, that would be a more defendable position.

I love the look of suspicion on both Xi and Putin's faces during the handshake picture!! Neither one trusts the other and the first of the 2 to let his guard down gets a knife in the back!!

Just like we overestimated Russia, we shouldn't underestimate Australia, and especially Japan. It's been a good while since the Japanese were at war, but they left an impression that's hard to forget, and historically they tend to hit WAY above their weight class. I'm glad they're on our side this time. 🇺🇸🇯🇵

I have studied this situation for several years. When Putin sleeps, he must keep one eye open to China. Sooner or later, it will happen. In reality, China can distinguish between "friends" as long as they do not get in the way of their national interests.
