“No Such Thing as Taiwan”: Xi Jinping’s Military Surrounds the Island | From the Frontline

On the 14th of October, China launched massive military drills around Taiwan and called the maneuvers as “punishment”. This just four days after Taiwan celebrated its National Day on the 10th of October. Taiwanese President Lai Ching-Te addressed the nation and said that China would never represent Taiwan. This angered Chinese President Xi Jinping who launched extensive military drills around Taiwan the same day when Russia’s Defence Minister Andrey Belousov visited Beijing. China sent its J-20, J-10, J-15 and the KJ-500 AWACS into Taiwan’s ADIZ. In Response, Taiwan launched its F-16 and Mirage 2000 jets. Meanwhile, the United States, Germany and Japan have slammed Beijing for its “Aggression” in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea. Soon After China’s drills, the US and the Philippines launched military drills north of Taiwan as Moscow backed Beijing.
