As a young soldier I was in love with Melanie and loved her voice and songs. I was 17, and in my first posting as a regular soldier, we had a radio in the workplace that was on 24/7. One afternoon, they played Ruby Tuesday and I was enthralled. So much so that I stood in front of th radio and refused a direct order to switch it off. The Staff Sergeant was a total and utter oxygen thief. He wanted to listen to horse racing results. I got to listen to Melanie though. But I also got shit on from a great height. Extra duties for the rest of the month. I'm 72 now. It's funny how music can be so vividly remembered. Rip lovely lady.

I was some distance away from the screen when this came on that I couldn't actually see who the singer was, but as soon as she started singing I recognized that powerful voice right away. How lucky we were to listen to her music while she was still with us. RIP, Melanie. ♥

I first heard Melanie's songs when i was 15. Her unique songs and voice captivated me. I find her version of Ruby Tuesday and Beautiful People so soulful and lonesome that got deep into my heart. So unique! So sorry to hear her pass away and i am forever glad to her for the songs she brought us
