One of my favorite stories growing up was Balto. He was a sled dog who saved an entire village of people. He was made fun of because he wasn’t a our bred dog but he still didn’t let that discourage him and saved the village. I used to watch it with my papa.

My favorite story growing up was one my grandpa told about the four princesses each representing myself and my sisters. Well now that I’m an adult and I myself have come out as trans I tell the story of the three princesses and the prince to my niece.

Once, a girl from my class approached me during naptime in kindergarten. I pretended to be asleep and didn't move. She laid beside me, kissed me on the cheek, and quietly said, "I love you." Then she went to her bed. I still remember her going home that day, her gray striped sweatshirt... Now I'm 21, but that childhood confession remains one of the most romantic things I've heard in my life.

My favorite story growing up was Mulan because of all she did and sacrifice for her family and she also taught me that no one should belittle you or tell you if you’ll bring “honor” or not to your family.
