Entire Case Company Built on Literal Theft

Today we're "reviewing" the GameMAX "Hype," which DEFINITELY ISN'T inspired by a Hyte Y60. The Hype case is anywhere from $100 to $200, depending on where and when you look, and has poorly copied nearly every aspect of the Hyte Y60. We haven't seen a ripoff this egregious previously, and that's because even the product page has literal copied & pasted text from real Hyte's product pages. This is part of our new case testing methodology that we debuted for 2024. You can learn some basics in our Fractal North XL review below.

Man, really expected more from a brand who's been making cases for 10, 15, 10, 15, 10, 10 years now

They’re 100% banking on people mistaking this one for the original, thank you for getting the word out.

I've been following you for 15 years and this video is probably one of the funniest I've seen in the entire 10 years I've been watching you.

I legit just purchased a Hyte Y70, and my heart was in my throat when I saw the thumbnail. Luckily, I'm not a gammer, and I got the right case.

Not gonna lie, naming something "Diamond COC" is an absolute power move

“Created for those for dare to win” sounds less like a slogan and more like a passive aggressive threat.

They somehow made a COC as hard as diamond. That’s impressive.

"Gamemax. Why does that name sound familiar?"

*Glances nervously at the power supply my roommate gave me which is currently running*

That's wild. I never expected to see full-on fakes after how much backlash Thermaltake (aka Thermaltake your design) got when they made all those ripoff designs years ago. The only counterfeit cases I had ever heard of previously was the lian li knockoff.

One of the most entertaining, yet also informative, videos I have watched recently. Thanks for the review!

2:36 "They say it's patented". It *is* a patented design... it's just that the patent isn't held by GameMAX! 🤣

Here in Portugal we have a distributor that buys crap from gamemax in bulk and resells it to all major retailers. We've seen their stuff under other names also. It's impressive because I've had the massive pleasure to build computers with their cases and coolers. Yes: They all suck, but people buy whatever is cheap and flashy nowadays. It's the distributors fault to invest a single dollar on these chinesium companies and spread their crap around the world. Even worse is that we are forced to assemble prebuilt machines with these cases because there are contracts with the distributors... Please go after these and other guys that do this shady job. You have good journalism skills, you can easily expose these companies.

But, did they say that it’s patented by themselves?

I do with you would review more DIYPC cases. I highly suggest the DIYPC Q3 ARGB. It's extremely cheap and isn't just an O11 Dynamic ripoff. It is mATX (so much smaller), comes with 3 RGB fans, still supports ATX PSUs in the rear, comes with genuine tempered glass, and all of that for $50. It even comes in some fun colors like pink and teal (which I also absolutely adore).
