President Obama takes a pay cut

CNN's Piers Morgan talks to a panel about President Obama returning 5% of his salary to the federal government.

Revising the constitution would make it ok to change or take away your rights protected by the constitution. Just because public opinion has changed over the years doesn't make it ok to change the constitution. This country is Constitutional Republic not a Democracy.

He's spent more on vacations THIS YEAR (4 months into the year mind you) than the 5% he's "saving" us by taking this cut. Yes it's a good thing to take a cut. But it's invalid and pointless when you outspend it in a third of a year.

Funny how he's doing this, conveniently enough, during the time that a lot of campaigning is going on...

i am fine with him going on vacations, but i think his family should go with him, or fly with him. That would save something like 25 million if he would just fly with his kids. I know the president is busy, and i am not suggestiing that he leave early to fly with his family. His family should stick around and fly on Air Force One! Seriously! Save some millions and take the same vacation!

so you have upgraded to "Womens rights in America" from fighting against "Female mutulation in third world countries"? I am glad you re-assessed your priorities. I am shocked that after you went through that, that you can look around America and say that women are profoundly unequal. When you look at the jobs figures, and account for the fact women tend to take jobs with daytime hrs, & jobs which travel less, because they want to stay close to there family, then the salary numbers are equal.

There are 'ends' that need to be shared. And while we have no control over the 'side effects' of being an ally to some, we do have to take a stance sometimes, distasteful as we are of their culture & laws. I am a huge advocate of women's rights, but frankly right now the orgs that I belong to are too damn busy trying to hold onto the women's rights we are losing right now in our own country to extend ourselves to too many other global fights.

Some of the money goes to grain and providing food to countries that do not have good soil for agriculture. I am ok with feeding the hungry, but there are situations where the countries spend all their revenue on the elite, and then expect american charity to feed their poor. We need to stop propping up certain reigmes.

You can't broad brush like that! The Constitution is one document that could use some revising. The Founding Fathers were wise men but thy made one major mistake. They assumed that it would be wise men following them & amending the document to suit the times. They had no way of foreseeing the future, these men who lived before zippers, dentures, radios, tv's, cars, computers, planes, submarines, shuttles...they wrote in a much more primitive time & we cannot adjust to living as they saw things.

Nothing satisfies them because he's doing this only as a campaign tool -- especially considering he's spent way more on vacations just THIS YEAR than his measly 5% cut.
