Marketplace can be a real sewer. When I sell, I specify cash only payments (with no holds) in a face-to-face transaction. It might take a bit longer, but it is the safest way. Scammers are now quite smart and sophisticated. Thanks for sharing your story. I am glad this incident ended in some ways well for you!

Scammers usually go away when you tell them that cash is the only payment accepted.

Sorry to see you have been scammed. It has happened so much over here in Australia too. I used to work in the bank and the amount of scams that we were made aware of was unbelievable. They have got too clever these scammers. Great video to make people aware of this ❤

The scammers are not interested in your parcel. All they want is the money. I had someone trying it on me. she/he/it tried tugging at my heart strings by saying she was disabled and couldn't leave the house. I said that's sad, but I'm still not sending it to you. If I'm selling something, no one and I mean no one will get me to send any money

I have lost all faith with selling and buying items on Facebook marketplace and EBay etc. I just have heard to many horror stories. Scammers are terrible people.

Trying to date online are scammers too... when they ask for deposits or funds so they can buy something nice a dress to wear for you on your date.... these scammers need to be scammed back

So sorry that this has happened to you. It's unfortunate that we can no longer trust anyone. There are people out there that will use scams to earn their living but don't think about the impact it leaves with the victims. So glad you at least got your money back
