Just a reminder, having talent doesn’t give you the right to do terrible crimes

adele haenel also shouted "bravo la pédophilie!" when she stormed out. he didnt deserve to be nominated, let alone win the award. truly the world we live in

It’s not about art vs personal life. The issue here is Polanski should be serving jail time, not making movies. If you are evading justice - whether the crime was committed twenty minutes ago or twenty years ago - you forfeit the right to be patted on the back for work committed as a fugitive. They are essentially aiding and abetting the career of a fugitive, in this case a child rapist.

Fact is, this guy should not be making movies, he should be in jail. He's an amazingly talented director, and his movies can still be enjoyed, but he should not be celebrated and honored like this.

Why is he allowed to be walking so freely in society, let alone winning awards? If he doesn’t want to face justice, he should at least be shamed into living in a dark hole somewhere.

He should NEVER have been nominated in the first place.

I would've walked out too. Stop being silent about disgusting things.

The Oscars have no right to also shame the Césars when they also continuously rewarded both Polanski and Weinstein knowing their history. Absolute hypocrites and he should be banned from being awarded!

People who say “separate the arts from the artist” have lost their moral compass. Like cmon guys. We should always honor justice more than the art. Polanski should serve his punishment first, only then he can continue make movies. No crimes should be forgiven unless punishment is served.

Don't get me wrong, I support filmmakers in any form, artistic and personal, but let's be clear of one thing: Polanski should never be discussed or awarded ever again. His time is done.

So proud of Adele, hope she doesn’t get viciously attacked for what she did

I like how Cesar Awards always have to be called French Oscars so Americans will know its prestige. Why stop there? Why not call croissants French donuts.

How great to see these type of reactions. I remember that he got a huge standing ovation from bunch of people at the Oscars.

He may be a good director but supporting him still makes him influential. Strip that off him, he cannot get away with crimes. These people get away with crimes because they have money, power and influence.

Just a reminder that a year before the me-too movement started in America most of the actors and actresses now involved in the me-too moment we're giving standing ovations to Roman Polanski

Meryl Streep would’ve given him a standing ovation

Only one person walked out? Shame on everyone else

I‘m pretty sure the presenter didn’t ‚fail‘ to get back on stage, she simply refused to because of her moral integrity?

If they want to award and honor the movie they should nominated everybody else who worked on it besides him

I will never understand why he wasn’t extradited back to the USA to face his sentencing. It’s despicable. Glad some people are making a statement against this pervert rapist.
