Seinen and Shonen are demographics there not genres.
Just like most think OPM is a Shonen, but it isn’t because it’s released in a Seinen Magazine.
Or AOT feels like Seinen but is Shonen because it’s released in a Shonen Magazine.

Seinen, Shonen, idk frickin Shojo... are all demographics and not genre. It doesn't really define the type of content of the series. The best example is JJBA, it has existed is both Shonen and Seinen magazines, with an overall consistent type of content, while allowing Araki to have more time to draw the chapters and little worry about restrictions.

Well for those who don't understand the difference, think that you are seeing a glass filled with some liquid. It could be anything. What shonen tends to show you is that the glass has mix between many fruir juises or different drinking beverages which sometimes taste good or bad. Now what seinen shows is that there is simply water in the glass and they have a minute difference in taste. Like different perspectives to a same thing.



That's why shonen most of the time tend to have unique premise but rather shallow characters. Some shonens have good depth in characters though but they are rare.


Seinen tends to give more detailed version of a very simple story. What i have read so far seinens mostly have logocal and simple story. So the author can focus on the charcters more than anything. Seinens have good character interaction and emotionally dynamic characters. Yet they most of the time have simple story.



Whta i prefer is ..

I don't care if it's seinen shonen shoujo or jossei, i want a good story and that's it.
