I lived in Barranquilla for a time as a young boy, that back in the late 1970's, and still remember it fondly. My mother was Colombian, from El Carmen in Norte de Santander, but her family moved to Barranquilla sometime in the 1950s I think. My mother later married my father, lived in the U.S., where I was born in 1971. We went for a time to stay with my grandmother in Barranquilla and had many cousins also there at that time. I still miss it and it hurts my heart a little when I picture it now, sometimes quite vividly in my dreams. 🥹 I do very much hope to make it back there someday. Thanks for this video!

Appreciate the video. I have been to Medellin a number of times, Bogota and Cartegena once each. They are all different and it depends on what you like to do, what fascinates you, and if you are into learning about history and culture. Personally, I will be traveling there next month (November 2023) for a few days. I believe the people who say it's boring are comparing the nightlife and other partying activities. I have heard good things about Barranquilla and looking forward to my trip.

Hi Israel. I arrived in Barranquilla yesterday. Your video helped convince me to visit here.

I don't like very touristy cities and Barranquilla feels like a place in which tourism isn't everywhere. It's a very real Colombian city where people's lives don't revolve around tourism.

I'll be here for a few more days and hopefully I'll have a better idea of the city by the time I leave.
