(n.)
-A scheme, wish, or inclination which is not strong enough to lead one to take action.
-A fanciful dream or aspiration that is believed to be unattainable, so which is left unstrove for.

From medieval Latin velleitas, from Latin velle 'to wish’. Early 17th century.
