MY SOCIAL MEDIA:

Do you want to improve your pronunciation? I have launched my British English (Modern RP) pronunciation course! I’ll train you to read phonetic transcriptions, and produce each sound that comprises modern received pronunciation. I’ll also teach you how to implement the correct use of intonation, stress, rhythm, connected speech, and much more. We’ll compare similar sounds, and look at tricky topics like the glottal stop and the dark L.
Technically, I need to mark this as an AD even though it is my own company so - AD :)

A British friend once asked "How are you?" and I told him the story of my life as an answer. Since then, he always just say "hi/hello".

Hi Lucy, I enjoyed some of your responses. I have serious health issues. I am asked this question a lot and although I have an English background here in Canada a common answer I often use is ‘I am still on this side of the grass’. 🇨🇦

My conversation professor says “nice and dandy like a cotton candy.”
It kills me😂

"How are you?"
"I couldn't be any better."

Always seen as a positive response, but it covers all occasions. I may not be doing worth a damn, but I just couldn't be any better.

At the time when our Dad was in his late 90’s and 100, friends would ask him this question. His reply was often… Well I’m still kicking. I’m just not kicking up much dust! 😁 He was a Pilot during WWII and had a lot of great stories for those wanting to take time to listen. He was a great Dad and loving husband for over 50 years. He’s greatly missed.

"I'm alive" is the savage one. People always laugh at it and the conversation gets more real and honest after.

I always loved the British accent but you, Lucy, took it to a next level. English is my second language and I can understand everything you say without much effort! Perfect! Love the Brits!

I just tell the truth: everything sucks. No one asks me to elaborate.

I do this with my friends:
"How are you?"
"Yeah."
"That's not a response"
"Definitely"
"Why are you like this"

For some time now I've been saying that this is the toughest question to answer in everyday life ("Do I have to lie again?"). So glad to have chanced upon your video for these lovely suggestions!
