A speech therapist suggested MM use a breathy voice to overcome her stutter. It worked, and it became one of her trademarks.

One of America's most tragic stories. She is still beloved by so many. I hope you've found happiness Norma Jean. ❤

I used to serve a customer who worked with her at the factory. He said she was quiet but very very nice.

When Marilyn was married to Joe DiMaggio, they lived next door to my grandparents. This was when my mom, aunt, and uncle were kids, ages (in above order) 12, 10, and 8). She would invite them over to go swimming along with Joe's son, who was a year older than my mom. While the kids were in the pool, my grandma and Marilyn would sit and talk while having tea together. My grandma always said she was the sweetest person, as was Joe DiMaggio. My mom told me Marilyn would go for walks in the middle of the night. She would just walk back and forth along the sidewalk. She would only go about 3 or 4 houses down, then walk back and forth, sometimes for hours.

Sad that most people only know as a “ditzy blonde“ when really she was actually quite smart with a high IQ. Also was quite the pillar in the civil rights community.

She knew who her father was, he just denied it her whole life. It's recently been proven through DNA last week that the man she believed and claimed was her father, was indeed her father

Everyone around her used her. All she wanted was to be happy and to be loved.

The more I learn of Marilyn's life the more I love her and honor her memory. She had it all. She could make people laugh and had an incredible depth of feeling. The 'Misfits' very much showcased how much I will always love this incredible but fragile human being.

Here are some more tidbits:. Her hair was originally long and jet black. Her first hair dye was red. And Hollywood dyed her hair light blonde.

She had Borderline Personality Disorder because of her past, something she and I have in common. Its a hard life in the foster system, and having a schizophrenic father myself, I feel for her. ❤️

You forgot the part where they killed her because she knew too much and made it look like a suicide.

Knowing the trauma she went through and her mother being schizophrenic really helps me to relate to her way more. I already saw her as my favorite icon but now I understand her

Marylin wasn't dumb. She was a fighter who made something of herself. She isn't remember simply for her looks

She literally looks almost identical to my grandmother in the wedding photo.

Marilyn Monroe's life was brutally brutally sad and heartbreaking. That woman didn't have a chance that child didn't have a chance.

Her first husband was actually very popular, athletic, and smart. All the attributes which were considered for bright and successful future. He loved her very much and didn't like people taking pictures of her.
