Addendum: I made a mistake at the beginning of this video as the title of the book is : What lies ahead when there is no future?
And not :
What lies ahead of us when there is no future?

Sorry for the mistake.

I've just discorvered your channel and you have hundreds of book reviews. You seem like a very passionate scholar. May I ask how many books you manage to read per month? And do you think you're able to integrate all these different thinkers into your own internalized approach? Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing

Bro he doesn't want to conquer ukraine. He wants to welcome it back into russia, because it always was russia (at least its east was) for hundreds of years. They bid them goodbye awhile back, and wished them well. But it politically wasn't working out very well so putin just wants them back in russia, along with wanting more buffer area against nato. It's less "conquer" than it is rejoin. And he'd have preferred peacefully, but the governments of ukraine are constantly anti russia (for good reason it can be argued). I have to be honest with you, we weren't all that blindsided. We know this kind of nonsense goes on with russia routinely, and expect it to flare up from time to time, with people like mersheimer knowing the details better than most. Further, the west, especially the US, barely cares about this nonsense other than the lives being lost (see trump trying to end the war to save lives not because he gives half a dam about ukraine/russia). And to be sure, without starlink/US/western money, ukraine would have collapsed. If zizek thinks poland is getting invaded he's out of touch with reality. Not happening. Zizek is right about the work culture you're describing though. However, I'm not sure his solution is correct. And yeah, gotta do capitalism, no question, or treason etc. And he's right about leftists being controlled. Idk what he means by "wartime communism" but leftists are more or less overall defeated one way or another by capitalists at present and that isn't going to change for my lifetime. Them "resisting" is just causing damage that need not be done.
