If you know how to drape ur saree properly you don't need to wear an overly fitted peticoat to look slim. Also in Indian functions we very often have to sit down on the floor for rituals and it's uncomfortable to sit in a tight peticoat.

ill stitched fabric petticoat will make you bulky. Get a stitched petticoat from the tailor that's stitched by sewing together vertical (frustum shape) pieces of cloth (like a lehenga is stitched). Those don't make you look bulky. Wrap the saree snugly and tada! Only works if you're slim though.

Those shapewear petticoats are hard to tuck saree in and keep them in their place (because heels and saree means less saree to tuck in and the saree keeps slipping out from behind)

All you need to know is draping a saree nicely... If the saree is well draped, it doesn't matters whether you are wearing peticoat or a shapewear.

If you have to sit down, i think wearing pants instead of the fitted petticoat is a good idea if the saree is not too sheer

Wearing a saree is an art, have seen women who wear saree all day and the saree is crease free after day functions. Current generation experience with saree is so less it will an age to reach that level

Organza sarees are a strict No-No for chubby girls. It makes you look more bulky. Chiffon and pure silk sarees are the best. ❤
