As a STRAIGHT WHITE MALE I can say my privilege is that I'm blamed for my wife and I started out on food stamps in a government assisted apartment. We worked our asses off to go to renting and apartment, then renting a 900sqft house to buying a house. My PRIVILEGE was/is being in AMERICA!!!!

This is funny. In Australia, the government was concerned that women were being discriminated against in hiring and promotions in the public service. So they started a pilot program where all applications for jobs and promotions were gender blinded.

That is, all information suggesting gender was removed from application forms, and redacted from people's CVs.

Rates of hiring and promotion for men went up, and for women they went down.

They scrapped the gender-blinding program.

They've done studies like this in grade schools. They found that with female teachers, girls get higher marks when the teacher knows the work was done by a girl than when they don't, and boys get lower marks when the teacher knows than when they don't.

By university, this is true of both male and female instructors. Same work, gendered name at the top, women get higher marks than men. Not because of a formal affirmative action scheme, but because of general informal biases.

I think you are absolutely correct about the algorithm because people who are considered more right wing we get things that challenge our opinions and also get things that support our opinions. The so-called left-wing people they only get things that support their opinions because they shut down other people opinions
