Skyrim Just Got a 25GB New Update & DLC

Today we take a look at the brand new Skyrim update. Part of this update was the next gen version of Skyrim releasing, but also the release of Skyrim Anniversary Edition, and even the breaking of some mods for Skyrim.

Today has been amazing! Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil trailer! A developer showcase from Skyblivion! And I've preserved my current game by stopping the update on Steam and launching through Vortex! Almost feels like an actual holiday!

I get why modders and content creators would still be hung up on Skyrim but Bethesda honestly should spent all their ressourcers on a new game and if they've got some extra hands because they can't all work on that than they should finally fix F76 first before they go back to milking this game again and breaking my mods in the process....

Got the $20 upgrade and now all of my old saves are just black screens.

Either the weather effects for rain are notably way better in AE, or you're using a weather mod.
I'm using Obsidian Weathers myself, so I have no idea if the vanilla weathers have changed.

I'm planning to get back into skyrim, but I'm going to give it a bit to see how the modding scene shakes out. As far as buying the upgrade goes, I had gotten SE for free back when it first dropped on PC since they had a promotion going if you already owned LE, and that I had gotten on sale, so I still coming out ahead if I pay the $20 to upgrade.

With that said, at the time of this video the next steam seasonal sale is about a month and a half away, so I might just wait and see if by some chance there's a sale, especially since I'm not exactly hurting for games to play right now.

As a regular console player, this update made the game way more immersive with the survival mode and the hunger/fatigue/temperature add ons, plus no fast travel. Like, for the first time I can remember; I actually had to stop in an inn for the night to get rest, buy a room, some food, and sit down by the fire. (New character)

I have 3 hours on this new playthrough and I havent even made it to the Greybeards yet. I love this update, it feels like Fallout New Vegas' hardcore mode but in Skyrim.

Started a new playthrough and I'm pretty shocked at how good the enhanced graphics are (on the Series S). I loaded up an old modded save which used different HD textures and lighting and it looked like trash. Never thought vanilla would be so good l!

The $20 upgrade is well worth it, 70+ CC creations is a metric ton of content! And the next gen optimization/slight graphic update is also great! And speaking of which, I've noticed that there's far less texture pop in's, textures seem to be loading rather far away from the player, seems like the draw distance and LOD has been increased.

Once you update/ upgrade on Xbox one, you will not be able to load old save files, instant blackscreen. Also, new game/character died, reloaded and again blackscreen. Anyone with advice or fix would be most appreciated.

None of my console modded saves worked after the update. All of them corrupted. All of them lol.

I'll be getting this as well eventually, but my plan is to see how modding goes. I've been planning on doing a full playthrough again (because I always A.D.D.'d myself out before I could finish the Dragonborn dlc) but while the Anniversay additions are nice, there are some mods I just can't do without right now. I'll probably end up having two different setups. One with the Anniversary stuff updated and one before the update.

I was secretly hoping Todd would sneak in his beloved SkyUI into the Anniversary Edition as an On/Off toggle for PC users.

I have my Skyrim SE set up with over 100 mods, its very stable and I don't want to stop playing because mods are broken by Bethesda again. Last week I renamed my Skyrim folder to the imaginative name of "Skyrim Special Edition - Renamed", told Vortex where to find it since it couldn't find Skyrim SE, set Skyrim SE on Steam to "Only update when launched", backed up my entire game folder to a different drive and only launch it through SKSE.

I swear meetings at Bethesda go like this: Todd Howard, "Why do people love our games?" Bethesda Employee, "The mods do make our games very customizable, appealing and extend the games life for years or decades!" Todd Howard, "So we should break the mods like a lot...make sure they just don't work...is that what your saying? Its brilliant! Get right on that!"

I am going to wait to see what happens with SKSE and mods that depend on it before allowing the update and buying the Anniversary Edition upgrade, mostly to see which mods, if I use any, I will have to get rid of and do without.
